Quick Q’s with… is the series of articles that introduces you to the members and staff that make up Square Works, but with some fun questions, rather than the boring usual ones.
So, let’s start then shall we…
Who are you?
Hi! I’m Will. I’m a 23 old consultant that works on the first floor of square works. I am a keen rugby player and born and bred in Bristol! (Promise this isn’t taken from my Tinder profile….)
What company are you with?
I work for Lancia Consult, a boutique management consulting firm that originates from Singapore but has its European Headquarters here in Square Works. I joined with Immy and Aurore back in September and the first few months have absolutely flown by! We have about 20 staff members based full time in Bristol, 5 over in Belfast and a handful dotted over in Hamburg and Edinburgh. We love having people over to visit from the other offices and they are all very jealous of Square Works.
What is it that you do?
Good question…. As an organisation we focus on helping to implement change in other businesses. Whether this be a new tech system or a new way of working, we have a willingness to be curious and learn how we can best help them. As for me, I have a particular interest in technology. Within my first few months I have been helping a large music festival based in Switzerland implement a new system which helps them track their attendees and major donors. I have been involved in design, data migration and training! Sounds exciting right?!
What do you strongly suspect but have no proof of?
I strongly suspect that the queen died years ago along with David Attenborough. However, with COVID and the last two years the nation has been through, the media have kept it quiet from the rest of us. This is to shield the nation from any more pain and upset. (Sorry to all the royalists and David Attenborough fans…)
What is a piece of creative work that you love and why?
I’m not a massively creative person – contrary to the Square Works ethos – however the one piece of creative work that sticks with me is the time I saw the Gorillaz live at a festival. Before they came out, I was sceptical. I never thought they would be as good as the recorded version but I was wrong! They bought out all the classics as well as some of their new songs. The whole crowd was loving it and it’s been by far the best act I’ve ever seen live!
What would be some of the downsides of certain superpowers?
Being able to read people’s minds would bring all sorts of downsides…. An obvious one is that people who you think like you, actually despise you in their thoughts. Who knows, although Khia says he likes all of the Square Works members, he may actually think the opposite and is only working here for the free food on a Wednesday afternoon…
